May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
This is our prayer for you and your church. Imagine your church at the heart of your community as a beacon of hope for the least, the lost and the lonely. Imagine your neighbourhood transformed as the network of people connected with members of your church discover fresh hope as they come to know Jesus’ love for themselves.
Many individuals and ministries sensed that 2020 would be a significant year in which we would see the church in the UK grow. The Covid-19 crisis closed church buildings but, as churches took to the internet, many reported larger online congregations that had attended in person in more normal times.
In 2020 churches and ministries are working together for an intentional, strategic and Spirit-filled year of mission across the UK called Advance 2020. HOPE is one of the major partners alongside many others, and our particular emphasis is on the Amplify Young Evangelists Academy - a space for young evangelists (11-17) to learn, grow and develop in their God-given gift and calling! The Amplify programme started in 2019 and a second programme starts in September 2020, with most of the training and group development online. We want to see the gift of the evangelist released so the people we love and pray for, who don’t yet know Jesus, can have an opportunity to hear about him in relevant ways and respond.
Will your church plan a specific ‘reaping moment’ for 2020 online or once the lockdown ends: special guest services, mission events as well as more intimate events in pubs, clubs and community centres? Let’s pray and commit to taking the gospel to the nation on an unprecedented scale.
PRAYER 2020 - CALL TO PRAY
Pray in 2020 on the 20th of each month at 20:20 for 20 minutes
Pray … that God will give many opportunities to speak about Christ. (Colossians 4:3 NLT)
This is the invitation from HOPE Together to Christians of all denominations.
Through Prayer 2020 we are asking God to work through all that is done in 2020 – personal witness; church outreach plans in villages, towns and cities; evangelisation in all its many forms. HOPE’s executive director Roy Crowne says, ‘Already this is catching the imagination of Christians around the world. 2020 is such a significant year and Prayer 2020 will be a key part of the year.’

HELP AND HOPE
As churches we want to counter fear with practical love and service, and we want to be prepared to give the reason for the hope we have (1 Peter 3:15). Throughout the Covid-19 crisis HOPE Together is supporting local churches with ideas and resources to continue to make Jesus known. WE are keen to hear how churches are adapting and reaching the large numbers of newcomers who are looking in on live-streamed church services. Find out more here.
In 2020, 24-7 Prayer and HOPE Together are encouraging churches to host creative prayer spaces, inviting local communities to experience God by talking and listening to Him in prayer. In response to the Covid-19 crisis HOPE is creating a Virtual HOPE Space. Sign up to receive HOPE news to find out more when this goes live.
