Hope-Uncertain-Times Hope in Uncertain Times

‘Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life’ (1 Thessalonians 4:11). This verse had a fresh impact on me recently. Ambition and ‘a quiet life’ don’t seem to go together. Most people are ambitious for success, wealth or at least a long and happy life. But when I am trusting God for my future; when my spirit is right; when I’m grateful and thankful; when I can say ‘God, I’m yours. You’re in control’, then that leads to a quiet life. When God is protecting us and guiding us, he gives us the strength to cope with anything that comes along. He enables us to be a person of peace and to respond to life’s challenges in a godly way – even Covid-19. Although England is facing another lockdown, there are still opportunities to go on loving, serving and praying for our communities, inviting God to use us to bring hope and help through the local church. And as schools and universities are still open, let’s be creative in the way we reach out with something to say, something to give and an invitation to offer online.

Advent ideas from Yaxley

Laura Ashley’s church in Yaxley, Peterborough, are making the best they can of lockdown. Each day in Advent, a new ‘Advent window’ will be unveiled somewhere in the village for families to find. They will also be hosting a Village Nativity Trail, with the crib scene set up outside the church itself and other characters spread out throughout the village. Also, there will be Happyland nativity booklets for people to collect during the event. Copies of the all-new Happyland Christmas Story booklets are available to order from the HOPE shop. There’s also the specially-made Happyland nativity animation. Share the animation on social media, in schools and in church service.
HOPE-CHRISTMAS-2020-LR-COVERHOPE at Christmas magazine
Christmas is a wonderful time to share the joy of Jesus’ birth. Use the HOPE at Christmas magazine as a giveaway with details of your festive events. As always it is packed with features, competitions and giveaways. With churches closed, a home to home delivery is a good way to keep in touch with your community telling local people about online events and offering practical support. Find out more about the magazines here.
Spreading Hope in Uncertain Times
HOPE-HFUT-COVER-LRPauline Hill wrote to tell us she was giving away two copies of Hope in Uncertain Times to each of the people living in her village, with an accompanying note of encouragement suggesting they could pass the second copy on to someone else who would be blessed by it. Pauline wrote to us: ‘The combination of written content, images and design is so creative - gently leading us from darkness - to light - to Jesus - giving us all “a door to life.” … the cover has a soothing, velvety texture - it is literally a comfort to hold it.’ The booklet is an ideal Remembrance giveaway. It fits into a small A6 envelope and you can send them to friends and family members for the cost of a second class stamp. Find out more here and order copies here.
Jay Lusted presents Virtual Carols

Join The Wellbeing Journey

We’re encouraging churches up and down the country to run The Wellbeing Journey online or in person from January, inviting all those who attend their Christmas services, both virtually and physically, to join them on this journey. Whether you’re holding The Wellbeing Journey in a sports club, a church hall, in your home or online it’s easy to get started. This eight-part series launches in January and we’ve a growing number of ideas and resources on the new website www.wellbeingjourney.org
What?! A fully online Young Evangelists Academy... YES!
We continue to take steps of faith to equip the next wave of evangelists and to help young people see Jesus shaped change in their generation!  We took a step of faith in June of this year to change the flow of the coming Amplify year and keep some of it in person. Now we have made a further change to the year. After prayer and seeking 1045215God’s wisdom, we have decided to run the full Amplify year online. The year length is the same – January to July 2021 - small groups and specialist mentoring will continue as planned, but we will be doing the day conference as a shortened afternoon event on Saturday 23rd January 2021, the date the day conference was to be held. We are excited about this opportunity to raise up the next wave of evangelists in the UK! To see their neighbours, nation and the nations impacted with the gospel!
