Join the Wellbeing Journey

Dear {recipient.first_name}

We are so excited to be launching The Wellbeing Journey. We were preparing to work with KingsGate Community Church on a completely different project, when the Covid pandemic changed everyone’s lives so dramatically. KingsGate had developed their own Wellbeing sermon series, which had a significant impact on the church and their guests. A leader in the local city council attended one of their guest services during the series. She later took him aside and asked if he would run the same course in the city!

We felt that The Wellbeing Journey would have a prophetic edge in this season. So we changed our plans and are thrilled that the presenters, Bible teachers and wellbeing experts that we’ve asked to be involved are all available. The scripts are written. The book is at the printer. Filming starts next week, and the series will be ready for churches to launch at Christmas guest services online or in person. Jesus is ‘the Prince of Wholeness’ as The Message version translates Isaiah 9:6, so we will have Christmas sermon ideas to help churches to invite friends, neighbours and colleagues to join the journey. Local churches are in a unique place to lead communities on this journey to physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing as they offer this practical guide. We hope you and your church will join us on this amazing journey.

Deliver HOPE this Christmas
HOPE-CHRISTMAS-2020-LR-COVERWe have an all-new HOPE at Christmas magazine to help churches engage with local communities during the festive season. Published in partnership with Hope for Every Home, the cover features singing/ presenting duo David and Carrie Grant – Carrie will be well-known to viewers of the BBC’s prime-time magazine programme The One Show. There is also a feature on The Wellbeing Journey, to help churches invite guests to join the series in January, when so many start the year with New Year’s resolutions. We meet Dr Francis Collins, one of the medics looking for a Covid-19 vaccine; Jill, whose journey to faith started with a question on the TV show Who Wants to be a Millionaire; and the ‘Beast’ who finds his strength in God - Wycombe Wanderers’ popular striker Adebayo Akinfenwa. As always there are prizes to win and features to intrigue and challenge readers to explore faith. Copies at just 10p are available to order from the HOPE shop (deliveries will be made from the end of October).
Happy-Nativity-CoverTelling The Christmas Story

Copies will available to order from the HOPE shop later this month.
discover-logoDiscover the Bible with friends
The Talking Jesus research showed that for 27% of practising Christians, reading the Bible for themselves was a key influence in their coming to faith. Tell your friends and family about the Discover App which is an Android and iPhone download. Find out more at discoverapp.org or download the Discover Bible booklet for a great way to read the Bible with a friend or family member. A print version of the book is available next week in the HOPE shop.

Next week’s guests on our Talking HOPE chat show will be discussing how reading the Bible with a friend with Discover the Bible has helped the Church to explode in many countries round the world. We will also hear more about the impact we can have through ministry to toddlers and their parents. Join us on Monday 5 October from 8-8.45pm on Facebook Live @hopetogether and on our YouTube channel @HopeTogetherUK

RoM graphic 1600pxWhat is your rhythm?
In January we launched a youth-focused rhythm of mission for youth leaders and youth groups. Most churches and youth leaders have put plans for 2020 to one side to help and support people through this time, but we want to encourage churches and youth groups to keep mission at the heartbeat of what you do. We have created this Rhythm of Mission to inspire and equip every youth group to look beyond the building they meet in; to get us thinking beyond who is the room or zoom, to how we can best equip young people to live missionally where they are and reach as many young people as possible.

Prayer-Shield-SquarePray for the UK
Today, 1 October, sees the start of a prayer initiative called ‘The Prayer Shield’. This year-long initiative will see Christian leaders saying a daily prayer and pronouncing a blessing on the United Kingdom. Anyone who wants to engage in prayer for the UK is invited to join the initiative. Pastor Agu Irukwu, who inspired the project, says: ‘At a time when issues of race and racial injustice are causing so much pain, when communities are experiencing poverty and inequality, and the economy is struggling, it is important that we join hands and engage with God in prayer for the future of our nation.’ Find out more at www.theprayershield.uk
Prayer-backed practical care wins awards in Enfield
Nick & Mulenga ChandaRevival Christian Church in Enfield, North London, recently received an award for the ‘Best Community Initiative in North London’ in the Greater London Enterprise Awards, recognising their community work. About 80 volunteers are mentoring young people, visiting care homes, supporting women and children in a local refuge – and more!
‘[This] has helped to make us relevant in the community,’ said church leader Pastor Nick Chanda, when he and his wife, Mulenga, were interviewed on the Talking HOPE chat show.

The practical work of the church is powered by prayer! Since 2009, between 6 and 7am every day from Monday to Saturday, members of the church gather to pray for Enfield.
