Christmas 2019
Happyland-Nativity
Joy to the World!
‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you’ (Isaiah 60:1). Christmas gives us an amazing opportunity to talk to people about Jesus – the reason for the season. Read on to discover how HOPE’s partnership with The Entertainer toy shops, Bible Society, Hope for Every Home and Speak Life is enabling us to bring the Christmas story to life. Pray with us that these resources are used to help people discover Jesus for themselves.

Telling the Christmas Story –
with help from ELC’s Happyland characters

An angel on a rocket, the wise men on a London bus… it could only be the Happyland Nativity! This three-minute animation is now available for churches to share on social media and to use at Christmas events.

Made by our friends at the Speak Life Foundry, this stop motion animation uses the Happyland characters from the Early Learning Centre and a Christmas poem penned by Glen Scrivener, Speak Life’s director.

The animation links with The Christmas Story featured in Hope at Christmas, published in partnership with Hope for Every Home. It will be shown in selected Entertainer toy shops from 2nd December, when copies of Hope at Christmas will be given away together with the children’s booklet The Christmas Story, published by Bible Society.

Churches can also download a customisable version of the video and additional resources from Go Chatter.
150,000 copies of Hope at Christmas dispatched
cover-HRWe are thrilled at the number of Hope at Christmas magazines which have been ordered so far. This week Bromham Baptist Church near Bedford ordered 3,400 to deliver a copy to every home in their area. Scarborough Methodist Circuit have ordered 1,850 for the 20 churches in their circuit. One of the churches is planning to deliver them home to home around the village with details of their Christmas events. Fulwood Free Methodist Church in Preston has ordered 7,000 copies. Associate Pastor Ian Clarkson says they will deliver them by hand to the new housing developments within a 15-minute drive of the church. He adds: ‘Over the years we’ve seen a large number of people come to events and activities, then start coming to church services and then making a commitment.’ It is so exciting to hear how churches are using the magazine.
Copies of Hope at Christmas are still available to order from the HOPE shop while stocks last.

Prayer-2020Christmas gifts and cards
As the Netflix series The Crown renews interest in the royal family, copies of The Servant Queen and the King She Serves make a great conversation-starter about the Queen’s faith. And if you are sending Christmas cards to praying friends, include a Prayer 2020 bookmark or business card to remind them to pray for 20 minutes at 20:20 on the 20th of each month in 2020, asking God to give each of us opportunities to speak about Christ.
We hope you find these resources useful and enjoy making preparations for Christmas. With love and prayers from the HOPE Together team
