News Update September 2019
‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’ 2 Chronicles 7:14

HOPE Together doesn’t do politics, but we do pray. And prayer for our country is a priority right now. In particular, we are looking ahead to 2020 and, what we believe, will be an unprecedented year of harvest from the gospel seeds sown over the past decade and more. We are not the only ministry to be sensing this. Denominations and ministries across the UK are preparing for 2020 and opportunities to invite people to respond to Jesus’ offer of life in all its fullness.

We are launching Prayer 2020 as a year of prayer to pray for all that is done in 2020 – personal witness; church outreach plans in villages, towns and cities; stadium events – evangelisation in all its many forms. Join with us and pray for 20 minutes at 20:20hrs (8.20pm) on the 20th of each month throughout 2020. We are preparing prayer resources for use on New Year’s Eve – a night when many gather to pray in the New Year. And there will be 12 suggested themes to focus on throughout 2020 as we ask God to heal our land. (Find out more about Prayer 2020 and download the logo here.)

We love working with you and across the spectrum of denominations to make Jesus known with words and actions together. Do let us know how we can serve you and pray for you.

Christmas-HOPE-LogoAmazing Christmas partnerships!
One of the things HOPE does best is to bring groups together for the purpose of mission. This Christmas we have brought together an exciting partnership between Bible Society, The Entertainer toy stores, Speaklife and Hope for Every Home to help churches make the most of the Christmas season to point people to Jesus.

Bible Society is producing a children’s booklet, which will be given away to children shopping in The Entertainer stores. Adult shoppers will receive a copy of Christmas HOPE – the 2019 magazine we are publishing together with Hope for Every Home. And in a new partnership with the Speaklife Foundry, we will have a specially-made animation of the nativity story using the Happyland characters, popularised by the Early Learning Centres, which are now owned by The Entertainer. Every store will have a nativity window using the Happyland characters so the children’s booklet, the magazine and the video all tie together. Please pray for us and our partners as we finalise these resources for you to use in your community this Christmas.
bringing evangelists together

The Advance 2020 Summit is a special, one-day event to encourage and equip each of us to take the gospel to our country on an unprecedented scale throughout 2020. Speakers include Ravi Zacharias, Celia Apeagyei-Collins, Roy Crowne, Rachel Jordan-Wolf, Kevin Palau, Gavin Calver, Yemi Adedeji, Andy Hawthorne and Ben Jack. Find out more and book here.

We are thrilled to be bringing young evangelists together for Amplify – the youth arm of Advance 2020. Please pray for these young people as they get inspired and equipped to take the gospel to their generation.
Peer-to-peer evangelism training for young people

More than 500 youth groups have run Mission Academy Live, and those that use the course for a second time find it is even more successful. More than 3,000 young people have been trained through Mission Academy Live and those identified as young evangelists are gaining further training through Amplify. If you’ve not used Mission Academy Live, it is series of 10 innovative video-based sessions, with a focus on peer-to-peer evangelism. Find out more here
HOPE-Spaces-Logo-White-MediumPrayer spaces in public places
Through the Talking Jesus research we discovered 41% of practising Christians say that an experience of the love of Jesus, or a spiritual experience that they could not explain, was key in their coming to faith.

That statistic has prompted us to join forces with 24-7 Prayer and the Church of England to resource local churches to run Hope Spaces - prayer spaces, for those currently outside the church family, in visible community spaces.

Hope Spaces have already caught the imagination of hundreds of local churches and many cathedrals. We are working on a ‘how-to’ guide which will be available to download free of charge in the next couple of weeks. To register your interest email:
HOPE for All magazine

The undated HOPE for All magazine is full of topical features to help people think about faith. It’s an ideal give-away to use with invitations to autumn courses like Alpha or Christianity Explored. Give it away at university freshers week events with an invitation to church. Pop in an invitation to a Harvest supper or Share A Meal event, and give it away home to home around your area. If you’re hosting a parent and toddler group, a Macmillan Coffee Morning or a senior citizens lunch, it’s something to give to help your guests consider faith for themselves. Foodbank and CAP clients might welcome a copy too, especially as there’s a feature about a couple who found help from their local CAP centre. Preview the magazine here. Order copies here.
Share A Harvest Meal

This Harvest weekend (20-22 September), HOPE Together and our partners World Vision are encouraging you to share a meal with others and bring communities together. It’s simple. Claim your Share A Harvest Meal pack to get ideas and resources to help you enjoy a fun time with family, friends and neighbours. Find out more here.
Try Talking Jesus
Autumn is a great time to start a new course as a church or homegroup. The Talking Jesus course helps Christians grow together as they share their stories with each other, often for the first time. That then boosts confidence to talk about Jesus in everyday life.
We are thrilled that the Talking Jesus course has so far sold 4,500 copies including a copy going to every Methodist circuit; many Anglican dioceses have also made the course available to parishes. Order copies here.

The Talking Jesus research has been presented hundreds of times to churches of every denomination; 60,000 copies of the booklet summarising the findings have been distributed including a copy to every Roman Catholic parish for Home Mission Sunday.
Talking Jesus in Welsh!
HOPE-Together-Welsh-LargeThanks to Adrian Curtis, who works for HOPE Together in Wales, we now have the Talking Jesus course available in Welsh, with subtitles on the videos and a Welsh version of the course booklet. We are also working with the Church in Wales to publish a bi-lingual give-away booklet for Welsh churches and schools to mark the church’s centenary year in 2020. Please pray that God will use these resources to make Jesus known to the 3 million people in Wales.
Project Manager
Our partner ministry, Hope for Every Home, is looking for a Project Manager. Hope for Every Home publishes the HOPE magazines, and has a vision to reach every home in the UK with the gospel in the next 20 years. Find out more here. Closing date 23rd September 2019.
Invite a speaker

Both have been speakers at Spring Harvest, at missions and at church events of all sizes and with audiences of all ages.
