Calling all Youth Leaders – have you got a budding young evangelist in your group?
All over the country, it’s been amazing to hear stories of youth groups doing Mission Academy Live, with young people being encouraged to share their faith with their friends. However one question kept coming up when talking to youth leaders:
We’ve got one young person and they get it! They won’t stop talking about their faith. What can I do to support them?
It’s for that reason that we have created the Youth Evangelism Weekender. We are bringing together 100 hand-picked young people, aged 11-18, with a heart and a gifting in evangelism. The weekend is Friday 30th Nov to Sunday 2nd Dec 2018 at the beautiful Poplars Retreat Centre in Ledbury.
It is important to note that when we say ‘evangelist’, we don't necessarily mean standing on a stage and preaching to people (although that may be what some of the young people are called to). We mean those whom we can identify, with a calling or gifting for relational evangelism; that ongoing task of intentionally sharing faith with those who are already in our lives.
God is raising up a generation of young people who
are passionate to communicate the story of a God of love
Throughout our weekend these like-minded young people will listen to talks, have discussions, worship and pray together. We genuinely believe that God is raising up a generation of young people who are passionate to communicate the story of a God of love with their friends, and we are longing to help identify, resource and release these young evangelists.
We fully acknowledge that not all young people are confident extroverts, so the young people will be put into groups of five or six, based on age and location. Each group will be allocated a youth leader who will journey with them throughout the weekend. In this way we aim to ensure that all the young people are listened to, invested in and encouraged in their calling and gifting.
Just £30 per person
We are asking youth leaders to consider which one or two young people could be personally invited to take part in this weekend. We have capped places at 100 and are allowing no more than two young people from any one church. The weekend has been heavily subsidised – the £30 per person cost covers all activities, accommodation and meals. If however money is a barrier we have full bursary programme which can easily be applied for within the booking process.
We would love you to consider which one or two young people you could invite to be part of the weekend (and we would strongly encourage you to personally invite rather than offering the places to the whole youth group!) Booking is easy and can be done online at www.theyew.org
