Recruiting: 60 young evangelists!
‘Go … and I will be with you always!’ Isn’t that an amazing promise from Jesus. During this year we have been thrilled to hear how young people and older generations have been reaching out to make Jesus known in villages, towns and cities across the country. I’ve been privileged to see people responding to Christ at summer festivals, and we are excited by the number of areas planning to use the Talking Jesus course so church members can become more confident to speak naturally about Jesus in everyday conversations. The Talking Jesus research shows that many of our friends and family members do want to know more about Jesus, and it’s you and me that they want to hear from: the people they know. Talking Jesus – The Course is designed to train anyone who is willing to accept Jesus’s challenge to ‘Go!’

We have been delighted by the number of churches using Mission Academy Live with their young people and we are excited by the possibility of recruiting and training 60 young evangelists in the coming year – read more below. Pray with us that God will use them to reach a new generation of young people.

We are praying that your church will be fruitful as you make use of the Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas resources we are producing. Together, let’s use words and actions to make Jesus known.

Yours, with loads of appreciation

HOPE Revolution
Sixty young evangelists are to be recruited by HOPE Revolution following the success of Mission Academy Live. The young evangelists, aged 11 to 18, will be nominated by youth workers and will receive an intensive year of mentoring and training with small group work and residentials. Mission Academy Live training courses focus on peer-to-peer evangelism in small groups. The courses have been running in 420 churches including 146 Anglican churches, since Mission Academy Live was launched last year.

Jimmy-Dale-picJimmy Dale, pictured right, who leads HOPE Revolution alongside his role as National Youth Evangelism Officer for the Church of England says, ‘Many of those who have signed up for Mission Academy Live have now completed the 10 sessions and we are starting to hear some really encouraging stories about how the course has been equipping and releasing young people in peer-to-peer evangelism.’ Read more here.

If your church hasn’t tried Mission Academy Live, September is a great time to start. Sign up here.

Grow in confidence & grow your church

More than 150 churches are starting Talking Jesus – The Course this month. Six Anglican Diocese have offered the course to every parish and several large RCCG, Baptist and New Frontiers churches are using the course. In Preston, Crossgate Church’s midweek homegroups are joining together to watch the video series before dividing into small groups for discussion. Churches in the Shropshire town of Ludlow are planning together to use the Talking Jesus course across all the churches from January next year, followed by a joint Alpha Course.

Martin Ashford, Head of Mission & Advocacy for The Methodist Church says: ‘The Talking Jesus videos are an outstanding resource, very professionally produced. I was both engaged and moved by the experience of watching them. I would commend this course for use in any church or community that wants the encouragement and confidence to reach out and talk about our faith to those we meet in our daily lives.’

This practical, video-based course is ideal for homegroups. It includes six teaching sessions with short films to get people thinking, plus inspirational, short testimonies to give real-life examples from people who are talking Jesus. A course booklet will help each member of your small group to track their progress as they grow in confidence to make Jesus known.

How-to-prayPray for your area
During 2018 we are piloting a prayer project with Hope for Every Home using Dick Eastman’s ‘How to Pray’ booklet and localised prayer maps. The goal is to equip churches in villages, towns and cities to pray specifically and strategically for their area as they prepare to deliver the Christmas HOPE magazine.

Copies of the booklet ‘How to Pray’ are available at £1 a copy and make an ideal resource for homegroups and churches. Order copies here.

At Easter we ran out of magazines, leaving some churches disappointed. Order early to avoid disappointment.
