Guard your heart
‘Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it’ (Proverbs 4:23).
Because of Jesus we have a new heart and a new spirit. We need to guard this wellspring of life God has given us, treasuring the forgiveness won for us on the cross. There is nothing greater than seeing hearts changed as God works in the lives of people we meet. That’s what motivates me to Talk Jesus.

This month we have launched Talking Jesus – The Course. We are thrilled at the reception it has had so far. I hope you will watch the trailer, above, and share it with others in your church.

As the Apostle Paul prayed ‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit’ (Romans 15:13).

Talking Jesus – The Course

Talking-JesuscoverLearn how to share your story of faith with those around you in simple ways. Talking Jesus – The Course is out now with loads of real-life examples to guide and inspire you.

KingsGate Community Church in Peterborough is already well into running the pilot course. Dave Smith, the senior pastor, said, ‘We wanted a video-based course to prepare each member of our church to make the most of every opportunity to share their faith. This creative and engaging course fits the bill.’

Andrew Hargreaves, Mission Development Officer, Diocese of Portsmouth told us, ‘I have just watched all six Talking Jesus sessions back to back. You have done an excellent job. We shall be buying it for our parishes in Portsmouth Diocese with confidence and hope.’

What is the Talking Jesus course?
Talking Jesus - The Course includes six practical, video-based teaching sessions with inspirational testimonies to give real-life examples from people who are talking about their faith in Jesus in everyday life, plus short parable-style films designed to get you thinking. A course booklet makes it ideal for homegroups.

Talking Jesus - The Course has been devised by HOPE, the Church of England and Kingsgate Community Church. Find out more at and order copies on DVD or USB here. Contact Sue in the HOPE office to discuss bulk order discounts for orders over 100.

Rural Mission Sunday
Rural-MissionRural Mission Sunday is fun, according to Revd Doreen Sparey-Delacassa, Superintendent Minister of the Camelford and Week St Mary Methodist Circuit in Cornwall. Last year they held a Rural Mission Sunday celebration called Fun, Frogs and Bishops; a community outreach event with a bouncy castle and games, Open the Book displays and Messy Church crafts.

This year rural churches are celebrating Rural Mission Sunday on 15th July. Get a free resource pack for this annual opportunity to celebrate rural church life here. Click here to find out how churches took part in 2017.
Mission Academy Live
MA-LIVELogoWe love it when we hear how churches are using HOPE’s resources. Ricky Rew, minister for children and youth at Rayleigh Baptist Church in Essex, is running Mission Academy Live (MAL), which involves small groups of young people in peer to peer evangelism. He tells us, one young person in the MAL group decided to run Youth Alpha at their school. It was attended by 3-10 young people and a young person came to faith in Jesus as a result. Ricky says, ‘It's been a great resource, pitched at just the right level for our group.’ Find out more here.
New shop

Changes to data protection laws have led to some unintended consequences for HOPE. So we can keep in touch with churches and individuals who use HOPE’s resources, we have created a new HOPE shop. Our friends at CPO can still provide you with HOPE branded items from their HOPE shop.
Please keep in touch and let us know how we can serve you and pray for you as you make Jesus known.
