Churches and Christian ministries across the UK are working together towards HOPE 2018 – a year to use words and action to make Jesus known. Youth agencies are key to this special year, as HOPE Revolution continues to empower young people to share their faith. Through 10 innovative, video-based sessions, Mission Academy Live (MALive) will encourage young people across the country to be obedient to Christ’s call to ‘Go’.
MALive draws on our latest research into young people’s perceptions of Jesus, Christians, and Evangelism. This research shows us that we have a great team of young people to work with:
13% of young people aged 11-18 today are considered to be active followers of Jesus – they say they pray and read the Bible weekly and attend church monthly (this might include chapel services at faith schools, youth groups, Bible studies, and prayer events).
28% of young people identify themselves as Christian, but are not active in their faith, and a further 33% of young people who have not made up their minds on belief in God. There is a genuine openness to the Christian faith amongst young people.
Mission Academy Live will empower young people to share their faith with their peers. Through MALive we will mobilise young people to be confident workers, ready to reap the plentiful harvest that exists amongst young people today.
From the autumn of this year, hundreds of MALive small groups for young people 11-18 will be established across the country. These may be existing groups (small groups, Bible study or discipleship groups), or newly formed groups who will meet regularly to work through the 10 video-based sessions. Each session will look at a different aspect of evangelism. Through discipleship, accountability and prayer, the MALive groups will offer ongoing peer-to-peer challenges. The primary focus is on young people reaching out to six of their friends.
MALive small groups will be invited to be part of a local Hub where they will be linked together as part of an exciting evangelistic movement in their area in 2018.
