Quintessentially British in Kilburn
Members of Praise Chapel, Kilburn are holding an English Big Jubilee picnic and traditional fete. There will be stalls with various games for children and even adults e.g. apple-bobbing, hook-a-duck, tombola etc. Field events such as egg and spoon and three-legged races, will see participants divided into houses named after royal landmarks.
It opens with the national anthem, followed with a sing-a-long of traditional English folk songs, a ‘dramance’ performance encapsulating the Queen’s life and a dance performance relating to the Commonwealth nations. Praise Chapel is a Church based in the Kilburn area of North West London. We are excited to be celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and are pleased to share our vision of the celebration with HOPE.
Pastor Jayne Banful, said: "At Praise Chapel community involvement is and has always been high priority for us, therefore our celebration for the Queen’s diamond jubilee is entirely focused around not only a quintessentially British theme but also creating a memorable event that can be enjoyed by all age groups and members of our local community.
A Kilburn’s Got Talent segment will include contributions from many locals and ‘If I was Queen for a day….’ Interviews with the attendees will be projected on large screens over the course of the event. The food served will be picnic/tea-party food e.g. sandwiches, cream cakes, jelly, strawberries as well as popcorn and candy floss stands. There will be picnic mats laid out for those who wish to sit on the grass, all in all creating a traditional English family picnic atmosphere.
