The Noise - 10th year!
On the May Day Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 30th April – Monday 2nd May 2011) over 600 volunteers from local Bristol churches will again be communicating the good news through community transformation projects, senior citizens’ banquets, sports activities, family fun afternoons and BBQs.
 'The Noise' is about action and will serve the community and show God’s love in very practical ways. This year The Noise is celebrating its 10 th year of doing this!
'North Bristol Noise' started when a few local churches got together to see how they could pool their resources together to organise a weekend of serving the community. In the last 10 years, The Noise has continued to grow in size, number of volunteers, and influence. HOPE 08 gave numbers of volunteers a big boost. It's an opportunity for Christians from all backgrounds and churches to serve in the urban estates of North Bristol and partner with local church.
The Noise is not a 'one off event' because the vision is always looking to inspire sustainable initiatives and encourage the ongoing work in a fresh way. Many of the projects that run will continue throughout the year - such as kids clubs, sports activities, and events for senior citizens. The Noise is a great way of promoting these ongoing activities and developing relationships with people who would like to access this ongoing provision.
In 2011, The Noise will be expanding in geographical area. The weekend will be jam-packed with projects involving anything from teams working in the gardens of vulnerable adults/lone parent families, to massive rubbish clearance, to painting and maintenance in local schools.
There will be 7 Noise Family Fun Afternoons, including inflatable games, face painting, and a roadshow. There will be 3 Community BBQ’s, 3 Senior Citizens’ Banquets, Sports Activities including football coaching and tournaments, and Car Washing. Everything that happens over the whole weekend is completely FREE.
Louise, a local resident & Noise volunteer, says of her experience in 2010; 'It's not just about being part of the church, it's about being part of the whole community... I had people come up to me who I didn't know and say “thank you, you are doing such a great job. It's nice to know that there are people who care and are willing to do these things for our community.”
